So-Cal Road Trip

Over the weekend the Spartans hit the road to play a couple of teams down south. In four days they played three games, two of which were against CSU Long Beach, while the other contest was against Loyola Marymount University. The boys split games with Long Beach and won the match up against LMU finishing with an acceptable 2-1 mark on the road trip. After the final game on Saturday night, the boys enjoyed some team bonding with a visit to the local hot-spot Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. Roscoe’s is hands down the best chicken and waffle’s joint I have ever been to and can only be found in southern California, so to say the least, besides the hockey, this was the highlight of the trip. Roscoe's Team Bonding

csulb-webThe first two games of the Spartan’s 3-game road trip were against the CSU Long Beach 49ers. Even though the Spartan’s arrived directly at the rink from San Jose, they showed no signs of road legs as they started off the scoring less than 2 minutes into the first period on a goal by forward Jon Rivard. The Spartan’s didn’t let up as they skated into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead.

The second period was all San Jose State. Led by their defenseman, SJSU garnered 3 goals from it’s blueliner’s, 2 of which were by newly named captain Christian Rendino, and went into the dressing room after the second period ahead 5-1. The trend would not end as the Spartan’s added another goal in the third and skated away with a 6-1 victory on their opponents home ice.
