The second game of the Spartans home-stand featured a familiar foe in local rival Santa Clara University. The last time these two teams met the Spartans won decisively 4-1. This time around Santa Clara was hoping to bounce back and steal a win from San Jose.
SCU started off strong as almost midway through the first period they got the games firsts goal and seized an early lead. San Jose could not find a way to respond for the remainder of the period and the teams headed to the locker rooms with SCU up 1-0. After SJSU regrouped during the intermission, they got back to work at the start of the second period. After a fairly quiet period, San Jose eventually hit a stride and found a way to put one in the net. It only took twenty seconds for the Spartans to strike again and SJSU suddenly found themselves leading the game 2-1 after being down by a goal less the a minute before.
The rest of the game was tight as the Spartans were able to maintain the lead and keep the rest of the game scoreless. San Jose skated away with a 2-1 win over SCU as they continued to keep the winning streak alive.
