On Friday night, SJSU hosted the first game of a three game home-stand. Entering the weekend the Spartans carried the momentum with their four game winning streak and hoped to keep it going as they squared off against CSU-Fullerton.
The first period was toughly contested but proved to be fairly quiet as no goals were scored by either side and no penalties were taken. The shot count was fairly even with the Spartans having the edge nine to eight. The second period was quite a different story as it featured a pair of goals and fourteen penalty minutes for host San Jose. The two goals for SJSU were scored by forwards Romeo Sandoval and Schuyler Krawczuk and left the Spartans up 2-0 at the intermission.
Midway through the third period Fullerton attempted to rally as they were finally able to slip one past goaltender Eddie Berlin and managed to cut the lead in half. Fortunately, the Spartans were able to hang on to the lead and ended up winning the game 2-1. The win was much needed and helped San Jose continue their hot streak while maintaining their momentum moving forward.
