On Thursday night the Spartans played host to the University of Washington. The game’s scoring was started off by the home team, as SJSU tallied the first goal midway through the first period. The Huskies quickly bounced back though, and scored a goal of their own a little over five minutes later. With only two goals scored in the period, the teams headed to the dressing room tied 1-1.
The second period Washington came out strong and scored less than two minutes. San Jose stood their ground, played their game, and responded by netting a pair of goals before the periods end. Keanu Deguchi and Manny Tonna were among those scoring for the Spartans during the period.
With the Spartans leadin 3-2 to start the third period a push from Washington was expected but unfortunately for them it never came. About midway through the period San Jose struck again on a goal by defenseman Tim Fredrickson. With the tally it put the Spartans up 4-2 and that’s the way it would stay as the rest of the game they set up their neutral zone trap and skated away with the well deserved victory.
