srjc-web1493_san_jose_state_spartans-alternate-webOn Friday night the Spartan’s squared off against their rivals from the north, Santa Rosa Junior College. When these two teams face off against eachother, lots of body’s fly. With SRJC being in a lower division, this wasa must win game for SJSU in terms of rankings.

The Spartan’s jumped out the gate full gun’s a blazing and scored eleven seconds into the contest. They continued the strong start with another goal  in the period sending the teams to the dressing room with the Spartan’s up 2-0.

Midway through the second period Santa Rosa scored cutting the lead in half but it wasn’t long before the Spartan’s responded with a tally of their own when forward Corey Semmelmayer scored his second goal of the game. The remainder of the game the Spartan’s locked down their opponent by utilizing their trademark trap and even added another goal for cushion. The final score was 4-1 as San Jose skated away with a comfortable win on home ice.
