The last game of the trip was against Loyola Marymount University played in Harbor City, CA. With the Spartan’s having split the first two games on the road trip against Long Beach, this last game was viewed as a must win.
The Spartan’s showed urgency as they got off to a quick start when Rome Sandoval found the net less than two minutes into the first period. Not much longer LMU tied it up and the period eventually ended in a 1-1 tie. The second period was tightly contested and featured a lone goal scored by SJSU defenseman Christian Rendino.
The third period started with the Spartan’s on top 2-1 but Loyola quickly tied the game again. In response San Jose netted three goals in a row but the Lions would not go down without a fight as they got back in the game with a quick goal less than one minute later. Fortunately the Spartan’s were able to tally one more goal before the periods end and hold off LMU for the win with the final score of 6-3. With the win the Spartan’s finished above 500 on the road trip going 2-1 and bringing the momentum back to San Jose.
