Once again the Spartan’s played against the Long Beach 49ers but this game had different results. On a mission to avenge their loss from the night before the 49ers came out strong and never let off the gas. The Spartan’s came out flat footed and their effort showed on the scoreboard.
The first half of the game was dominated by CSULB as SJSU found themselves in a 4-0 hole midway through the second period. A rally though seemed on the horizon as goals by Tim Fredrickson and Manny Tonna cut the lead in half and sent the teams to the third period with the score being 4-2 in favor of Long Beach.
Unfortunately, the third period didn’t offer quite the same amount of excitement for the Spartan’s as their rally bid fell short and fell to CSULB by a final score of 5-2. With the loss the Spartan’s split the 2 games against Long Beach on the trip and prepare for their next game against Loyola Marymount University.
