csun-web1493_san_jose_state_spartans-alternate-webOn Sunday morning the Spartans laced em up in a rematch against CSUN. With less the twelve hours between games, the two teams once again found themselves going head to head. Once again, the game proved to be exciting and physical. The teams stayed close to each-other, as their was never more then a two point lead at any juncture in the game.

The Spartans started the scoring off early on a goal by defenseman Christian Rendino just a little over three minutes into the period. Adding insult to injury, the Spartans managed to get another goal before the end of the frame. This time it was defenseman Micheal Wilson getting the tally and sending the teams to the dressing rooms with the Spartans up 2-0.

The second period was the complete opposite of the first. With the Spartans failing to capitalize on a strong first period, Northridge was able to seize the momentum and score a pair of goals to tie the game. By the end of the second period the score was tied 2-2. The third period proved to be well contested. Both teams scratched and clawed as fatigue possibly started to seep in. In the end Northridge was the team to prevail and were able to go home with a victory.

Over a course of three games this weekend the Spartans accumulated a 1-1-1 record against teams they normally can beat. With the opening night tie to USC the now 1-1-2 Spartans find themselves behind the eight ball and in need of returning to their prior form. With next weeks road trip coming up, it may serve as a nice way for the young team to build chemistry.
